Kuala Lumpur: A company executive became the target of a hitman Wednesday, taking five bullets in a drive-by shooting along the KL-Seremban highway. The executive, 40, was on his way to his office in Damansara at 8.40am when a motorcyclist pulled up alongside his Nissan Teana. The biker, riding level against the vehicle, took out a gun and fired off six shots in the direction of the Teana.

Only one of the gunman's shots missed. The other five struck the victim in the arms, neck and chest.

City police chief Datuk Amar Singh Ishar Singh, said the victim was rushed to the Hospital Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.

His condition is still unknown. Police say they are tracking down the suspect and are probing the motive behind the incident.

Earlier this month, a similar incident took place at the Sungai Rasau toll plaza, where a businessman was gunned down by a hitman on a motorcycle.

Police had described the shooter as a professional killer due to the accuracy of the shots.

The gunman had fired off 10 shots, six of which struck the victim and killed him.

In SUBANG JAYA, a man high on police's wanted list was shot dead when he attempted to open fire on a team of policemen at Jalan USJ11/1D here.

Earlier, police had sent a team to inspect a car parked in front of a house in the neighbourhood after residents had called to complain about its presence.

As the team approached the Proton Wira and identified themselves as policemen, they found a man who was napping in the car.

The man, caught by surprise, quickly whipped out his gun and trained it at the policemen.

The policemen, in self defence, opened fire.

Selangor Deputy Police chief Datuk Abdul Rahim Jaafar the policemen fired three shots at the man, who died at the scene.

Rahim said checks showed that the man was the main suspect behind a shooting case in Batu Caves, which saw two people injured on June 21. Police also seized a Glock pistol, which contained three bullets in the chamber.

Rahim said police are tracking down another man who was also involved in the Batu Caves shooting.
