Kota Kinabalu: KDMM FC booked their ticket to the final of the Sabah Confederation Cup competition with a 1-0 win over fellow FAM Cup representative DYS FC at the Likas Stadium on Wednesday night. In a tense match, both teams created many chances but failed to find the target and it was left to KDMM FC's Melky Balang to score the only goal of the game in the 43rd minute through a well-taken free kick just outside the box to separate the two sides.

KDMM FC will next take on the winner of the match between Sabah Rhinos and Sabah Sukma squad which was played on Thursday night while DYS FC will meet the losing side in the tie.

Club President Datuk Peter Anthony, who also played on Wednesday night, said his team are ready to face anybody in the final.

"Many predict that the final will be between us and the Sabah Rhinos but they still have to get through the Sukma squad first. The victory against DYS FC was a huge motivation for us and we are ready for any team in the final."

Meanwhile, the play-off for third and fourth place will take place tonight (Friday) and the final will be played tomorrow (Saturday) at the Likas Stadium.

All the matches will start at 9pm and the champions will take home RM15,000 with the runners-up, RM8,000 and RM5,000 and RM2,000 for third and fourth place respectively.
