Police foil Syabu deal in Petagas, nab three

Kota Kinabalu: Three people, including a woman, were nabbed after police here foiled a drug deal and confiscated 150 grammes of syabu at a parking lot near the War Memorial in Petagas, here, Tuesday. The trio, a 38-year-old and 37-year-old, both unemployed local Bajau men, from Kinarut and Likas, as well as a 47-year-old woman who is an IMM13 card holder, have since been brought in to facilitate investigations. City Police Chief ACP M. Chandra said a team went to the site after receiving tip-off of a drug deal in the area at about 6.30pm. ADVERTISEMENT Police surveillance reported a motorcycle approaching a Myvi, which was parked at the location at about 6.36pm. The motorcyclist alighted and walked towards the vehicle carrying a black plastic which was then handed over to the driver in the vehicle. At that same time, a woman was seen walking from a different direction towards the two men. The police team then approached the trio and identified themselves, prompting all three to be apprehended when they behaved aggressively in their bid to flee. Further inspections on the plastic led to the discovery of a polystyrene with three transparent packets containing syabu estimated to be worth about RM18,000.Chandra said investigations are being done to find the source of the drugs.
