Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Rhinos brushed aside the state Sukma squad 5-2 on Thursday night at the Likas Stadium to qualify for the final of the Sabah Confederation Cup competition to be held tonight at the same venue at 9pm.They will take on KDMM FC who had earlier defeated DYS FC 1-0 in their opening match while Sukma squad took on DYS FC to decide who finishes third in the play-off on Friday night.New Rhino import Muamer Salisbasic showed that he has not lost his scoring touch with two goals in the 18th and 26th minute to take a two-goal lead in the opening half.

A misunderstanding between defender Igo Cerina and goalkeeper Rozaimie Rohim saw State under-19 player Hamran Peter reduced the deficit two minutes after the restart.The senior team raised their game further after the slip up and scored three goals through striker Stuart Wark who holds a Malaysian passport in the 58th minute, substitute Leopold Alfonso in the 69th minute and Igor who made amend for his early mistake with a goal in the 79th minute while Hmaran justified his inclusion in the Sukma squad with another opportunity goal deep into injury time.The final tonight will be Johnny Dominicus's fourth match in charged of the team as caretaker coach following the removal of Simunic Vjeran two weeks ago.He reckoned the final will be another stern test for the team before they take on JDT II in the second round of the Premier League on July 15.
