RM100,000 for S'kan mosque

Sandakan: The State Government contributed RM100,000 to Pengiran Galpam Mosque at Mile 7, here, Friday.Announcing this, Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman said the contribution, among others, could help in repairing and upgrading the mosque that has been receiving an increasing number of Muslims performing especially Friday, Terawih and Hari Raya prayers at the mosque.He said this at a ceremony to present Raya contributions to more than 975 recipients at the mosque here.

The privately owned mosque belongs to the family of the late Allahyaham Datuk Pengiran Galpam and its role is very significant since its opening by the late Allahyarham Tun Mustapha Harun on March 30, 1979.In another development, Musa said it has been a tradition for the local leaders to go down and meet the grassroots in their areas, including Libaran, and strengthen existing ties among them. Musa, who is Sabah Umno Liaison Chief, said he is grateful to be able to break fast together with Umno leaders in zones in Sabah and meeting the people.He said the Government would continue its efforts to help the people and ensure they would not lag behind in development.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

Meanwhile, the mosque's Chairman, Datuk Pengiran Abdul Rahman Pengiran Mohd Galpam, said the mosque has recorded over 1,000 people performing Friday and Terawih prayers.

He said the mosque management plans to expand the prayer area and other special needs, particularly to provide better comfort to the Muslims performing prayers in the mosque.
