Lorry driver killed in S'kan crash

Sandakan: A lorry driver was killed and his passenger seriously injured when the lorry they were in crashed at Jalan Sukau, here, Thursday. The 52-year-old lorry driver succumbed to his injuries at the scene while his 65-year-old passenger sustained serious injuries in the 2.30pm mishap.

District Police Chief ACP Zabidi Md Zain said preliminary investigations showed they were headed towards Lahad Datu from Sukau when the accident took place.

It was learnt that the driver lost control of the lorry after overtaking a vehicle, causing it to skid before crashing.

Witness are urged to contact the Sandakan Traffic Investigating Officer Insp. Nurwati Ismail at 089-242254 to facilitate investigations.
