Kuala Lumpur: Malaysia's young sailor, Muhammad Fauzi Kaman Shah, showcased a sizzling performance to secure a bronze medal in the 2016 Optimist Worlds Championships held at Villamoura in Portugal on Friday.The 14-year-old pint-sized skipper claimed the bronze medal after he was penalised with 85 penalty points after 11 races, according to the tournament website;www.optimistworlds2016.com.Swiss sailor, Max Wallenberg bagged the gold medal with 38 penalty points, while Mathias Berthet of Norway came in second place with 66 penalty points.

Initially, the race was to be held in 12 rounds, but the final round was cancelled by the organiser due to strong winds.Muhammad Fauzi, a student at SMK Kelibang in Langkawi, is the fourth Malaysian sailor to claim a podium finish. – AFP
