DUNGUN: A housewife was killed after the car she was travelling in with her husband and son skidded and rammed into a road divider at Km 83 of the Kuala Terengganu-Kuantan route here, Friday evening. The victim, Madihah Mohd, 21, died at the scene after suffering severe injuries.

In the 7pm incident, Madinah's husband Muhammad Syahir Muhammad Syafiq Chandran, 21, was believed to have lost control of the wheel after descending a hill at the location.

The Proton Waja car then hit the divider on the left side of the road, and the metal pierced through the car and hit the victim, who was seated in the front passenger seat.

The family were on their way to their home in Kampung Limbong Paka after buying groceries from Dungun.

A team of five firemen from the Dungun Fire and Rescue Station were despatched to get the victims out of the wreckage.

Madinah's husband and son Muhammad Naufal, were unharmed.

Meanwhile, the victim's brother Abdul Hadi Mohd, 18, said he did not expect his sister's excitement of cleaning up the house for the Hari Raya celebrations next week was a sign that she was going to leave.

"I saw that my sister was so happy when she and other family members were cleaning the house...she couldn't wait to celebrate Hari Raya next week.

"Prior to the incident, she sent me a message saying yesterday was the last Friday of the fasting month.

"But I did not think it was a sign that she was going to leave us all," he said when met at the Dungun Hospital's forensic department, last night.

Meanwhile, Dungun District Police Chief Supt Ahmad Zailani Yaacub, when contacted, confirmed the incident.

Meanwhile, in GEORGE TOWN, an Indonesian woman was seriously injured and lost her right leg when hit by a motorcycle while she was crossing the road at the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway early Saturday.

Timur Laut District Police Chief ACP Mior Faridalatrash Wahid said the crash occurred at about 1.40am while the 44-year-old woman was crossing the road to get to Jalan Gudwara.

He said the woman was hit by a Kawasaki motorcycle which then dragged her for a metres.

"The victim was sent to Penang Hospital for treatment and was reported to be in stable condition," he added.

Mior Faridaalatrash said police were tracing the motorcyclist, believed to be a man, and urged those with information on the incident to contact the police.
