Semporna: Former Semporna Umno Youth chief Nixon Habi said Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie's resignation from Umno was hardly a surprise and that his decision showed his political struggle was meant to serve his interest. "He enjoyed the benefits of being a member for the last 26 years as a senior leader in the party and the government. This is why he is going for the 'Sabah for Sabahan' slogan," Nixon said.The Umno Supreme Council had on June 24, suspended the former Vice-President and Semporna Member of Parliament for breaking party rules. Shafie touched on the Eastern Sabah Security Command (Esscom), unemployment in the state, issuance of communal titles to native communities, white paper on immigrants and royalties from Petronas.ADVERTISEMENT Shafie also took a swipe at Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman, claiming that the strenght of Umno in Sabah had nothing to do with his leadership as the state party chief.
