Kuala Lumpur: Anti-crime activist Datuk R. Sri Sanjeevan was on Friday detained further for investigations and is expected to be arrested for the seventh time in over two weeks, his lawyer confirmed. Lawyer S. Prakash said the Ampang Court on Friday granted the Kajang police an order for a one-day remand of his client that will expire Friday. "So what happened is the magistrate has allowed remand only today, but I was told there will be re-arrest by Kajang police again.

"They told us there was another police report, so what they will do, they will do a re-arrest today and they will bring him for remand tomorrow," he said when contacted, Friday, after the sixth remand request by police. Sanjeevan, who heads the Malaysian Crime Watch Task Force (MyWatch), was arrested on June 22 over alleged criminal intimidation and extortion. According to Prakash, the first three arrests and successful requests for remand were to facilitate investigations under Sections 384 and Sections 506 of the Penal Code, while the subsequent arrests were for investigations under Section 384. The multiple arrests were made based on different police reports lodged against Sanjeevan, he said.
