Kota Kinabalu: It is common for political parties to monitor current situations or changes in order to strategise, said Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan.Pairin, who is also Parti Bersatu Sabah President, said challenges will always exist in politics, adding that PBS, like other political parties, has been observant on happenings in other parties.Asked to comment on the resignation of Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal from Umno, Pairin said it was an internal matter and the "party concerned will surely analyse the situation."

"For us, the public or other parties, we can be observers," he said at the PBS Hari Raya Open House.Shafie left Umno following his suspension on June 24 by the supreme council, which also expelled former deputy president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and former Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

On the open house, Pairin said it was aimed to further solidify ties among the communities, especially in the city. At the same event, more than 30 orphans received "Duit Raya" from Musa and Pairin.
