Public must also keep an eye on security, says CM
Papar: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman urged the people to work together with the security forces in safeguarding the State. He said it is crucial for them to complement security efforts on countering outside threats.

"Although we have yet to receive any reports on Daesh in Sabah, I have earlier tasked all our security forces to be ever ready and always on guard so as to face any eventualities.

"At the same time, I am also calling on the people of Sabah to give their full cooperation by reporting any suspicious activities or elements to the security forces soon as possible so that any untoward incidents can be tackled and prevented.

"This is important as security of the State is the responsibility of all," he told reporters during the annual Hari Raya Open House of Umno Papar at a multipurpose hall, here, Saturday.

The event was hosted by Umno Papar Divisional Chief Datuk Seri Abdul Rahim Ismail together with Papar MP cum Works Deputy Minister Datuk Rosnah Abdul Rashid Shirlin and Umno Papar Deputy Chief Datuk Ghulam Haidar Khan Bahadar cum Kawang assemblyman.

Also present were State Secretary Tan Sri Sukarti Wakiman, State Legislative Assembly Deputy Speaker Datuk Johnny Mositun, Special Tasks Minister cum Liberal Democratic Party President Datuk Teo Chee Kang, Barisan Nasional (BN) leaders and senior officials.

On the Raya Open House event, he said such auspicious occasion is a good platform for the State leadership to meet and interact with parliamentary and state seat leaders as well as the people in the respective areas.

He said the event would also foster good ties between them apart from strengthening the existing ties.

To a question, Musa said he is very pleased that non-Muslims continue to join in the Hari Raya celebration which shows that people from various backgrounds can live harmoniously with each other.

This was also evident, he said, during the State Cabinet Raya Open House where almost 40,000 people attended the annual event, showing the strong camaraderie between the leaders and the people.

Meanwhile in our Page 3 report yesterday, the headline on the open house of State Local government and Housing Minister Datuk Hajiji Mohd Noor should read as Saturday 23 July and not Saturday 9 July.

The error is regretted.
