BUKIT MERTAJAM: Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) will consider whether to cooperate with the new party which former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad wants to set up or otherwise. Its President Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail said for the moment PKR had not stated its stand to cooperate with the new party to be set up by Dr Mahathir and did not deny his right to set up a party.

"Not yet, right... He (Dr Mahathir) has not set up, but it is indeed his right to set up a (new) party.

I hear he also does not want to be president. Let's wait for Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to come to a decision.

"We (PKR) see first, we see first because we must have similarity in our struggles and our every agenda must be the same," she said. Wan Azizah said she lauded anybody who wanted to be together and united in the principle of similarity.

On Thursday, Dr Mahathir announced he would set up a new party which would become a component of the opposition pact to face the 14th general election. Dr Mahathir was reported to have said that the new party would be set up as the existing opposition parties were 'not attractive'.

Meanwhile, commenting on the PAS' request that opposition parties stopped attacking one another and focused on attacking their actual enemies, namely, Umno and Barisan Nasional, Wan Azizah said PKR lauded the matter.

"We definitely laud it. We don't want to be attacking each other. What we want to attack is injustice, corruption and abuse of power," she said.
