Tuaran: Some 70 former members of opposition parties, notably PKR, have applied to join Umno through the Tuaran Division. They handed their application forms through their leader Josie Aloysius to Tuaran Umno divisional chief Datuk Seri Hj Hajiji Hj Noor prior to a divisional meeting here, Wednesday night.

Speaking to reporters, Josie said they acted on their own free will without influence from any quarter.

"We have lost faith in the leadership of PKR which seems to have lost direction.

"We are now convinced that only BN and Umno can bring the kind of development and progress that the people of Sabah longed for. One good example is the Pan-Borneo Highway.

"We are also sure now that more and more people are supporting Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, as can be seen from the results of the Sarawak state election and the two by-elections in the Peninsula.

"We also support the leadership of Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Hj Aman who had brought unprecedented progress to Sabah. Under him, the best is yet to come.

"We also admire the leadership style of Hajiji who does not differentiate between race and religion when helping the people. Hence, we did not hesitate to join Umno Tuaran led by him" she added.

In welcoming the group into Umno, Hajiji who is Sulaman Assemblyman said their action showed that more people are supporting BN.

Hajiji, who is also Minister of Local Government and Housing, added that the group's action also showed increasing support for the Prime Minister, the Deputy Prime Minister and the Chief Minister.

Among the Tuaran Umno leaders who witnessed the ceremony were Wanita chief Jamaliah Antalip and Youth leader Jasnih Hj Daya.
