No ransom demand: Families

Tawau: Families of the five Malaysians who were kidnapped in the waters off Dent Haven, Tambisan, Lahad Datu, have not received any information about ransom.Rahman Arshad, 46, uncle to one of the victims, Mohamad Jumadil Rahim, said the information that is being circulated about a ransom is untrue.

"It is not true. What we are hoping for now is the safety of all the victims. We want them to return to their families safely," he said when met here, Thursday.

Rahman, who is also a ship captain with the same company which employed the victims, said the families had been informed that all of the victims were safe.

"What is important is tawakal, prayer and hope," he said.
