SESB worker electrocuted during work in Beaufort

Kota Kinabalu: A 35-year-old Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) worker was killed while doing maintenance work on an electrical pole in Kg Padas Damit, in Beaufort, Thursday. SESB Senior General Manager (Asset Management) Muhamad Nazri Pazil, in a statement here, said the man from Kg Kota Klias, Beaufort, had joined SESB nine years ago as a cable jointer based in Beaufort. "The cause of death is still being probed and a police report has been lodged," he said.

The State Fire and Rescue Department Operations Centre identified the man as Mirzan Rahim, who was said to have lost consciousness while doing maintenance works. Firefighters assisted SESB in bringing the victim down from the electrical pole after receiving a distress call about 11.27am. The operation ended at about 12.11pm and involved a total of three firefighters led by Redzuan Ajit. Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

Meanwhile, Muhammad said SESB has started its investigations on the incident and a full investigation report will be forwarded to the quarters concerned.
