3 photographers win RM10,000

Kota Kinabalu: Three lucky photographers have won RM10,000 in prizes in the Beautiful Sabandar 2016 Photography competition. Chin Chee Fui will pick up the first prize of RM5,000, while Clement Liew Ket Hin and Yan Yung Liat who finished second and third will collect RM3,000 and RM2,000 respectively.Five prominent and senior photographers were among the judging panel, including Sabah Professional Photographers Society (SPPS) Life President Datuk Clement Yeh, Datuk Gerald Goh, Henry Chin, Kung Ping Kun and Thomas Lee, who decided on the winners after the final judging session at Wisma Kinsabina on Monday.

'Beautiful Sabandar' was organised by Kinsabina as part of its CSR programme, to encourage the old and young to hone their photography skills and capture images that reflect its theme.According to Kinsabina Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Francis Goh, the response was overwhelming, with 482 entries in the competition.The organiser facilitated all the participants with a complimentary one hour boat ride along Sabandar River to capture the beautiful river scenes. Lunch was provided for all the photographers at the Bamboo Restaurant.The organiser may also use some of the photos in the brochure of their upcoming project, Aman Pesona Beachside Villas.

The selected photos will receive another RM100 per photo.Photos in the competition mostly feature the sandy beach nearby, beautiful sunset, river scenes, kampong lifestyles, fishing village, mangrove park, nature, Sabandar Horse Riding Centre, infrastructure within Sabandar, models in Lotud costumes and even the Mengkabong River or Mount Kinabalu.
