Body of croc victim found without arms and legs

Kota Kinabatangan: The body of a crocodile victim was found on Monday, three days after the man was reported missing at Sungai Tenegang on Saturday. District Police Chief Supt A. Sahak Rahmat identified the man as Mohd Asis Tahir, 34, a plantation labourer who is survived by a wife and four children. The body was found, minus arms and legs, at about 11.15am and has been sent to the Kinabatangan Hospital.

It was found not far from where the man was reported missing, believed attacked by a crocodile, after going out fishing with a friend. Police were alerted of the incident by a plantation worker who told them that his work mate had been attacked by a crocodile while fishing at about 6.40pm on Saturday. Early investigations showed that at about 2pm on Saturday, the man and a friend had gone to Sg. Tenegang to fish with another friend. At about 3.45pm, one friend saw him being attacked by a crocodile which disappeared into the water.

Sahak said a police team from the Sukau Police Station including marine police were deployed to the area in search of the man together with personnel from the Kinabatangan Fire and Rescue as well as Civil Defence Department. Family members as well as plantation workers and auxiliary police also took part in the search.

It was learnt that the woman's car was hit by a Proton Iswara as she was exiting a junction at about 8am. The impact caused her car to swerve before plunging into a drain.
