Kota Kinabalu: A gungho dance from the Yakuts – a minority Siberian ethnic tribe from the Russian Federation Republic of Sakha Yakutia, and a show of amazing grace and finesse from the South Korean Troupe in two pocket shows during Tuesday's City Parade from Suria Sabah to Lintasan Deasoka suggest a quality exotic treat for folkdance buffs at the 11th Sabah International Folklore Festival. Besides the Yakuts and Koreans, Ireland, Estonia, Australia, India, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand and Malaysia are also participating.The July 29-30 international folk dance competition offers probably the best chance to see them at their best, at the Sabah Cultural Centre, Penampang, 7.30-10.30pm.

There is also a Prime Show scheduled on 28 July at the same venue.In a welcome speech read by Bahari Hajj Hassan, Deputy Director General of City Hall, Mayor Datuk Yeo Boon Hai said a "very interesting" festival "enables people of Sabah to enjoy sensational blends of ethnic dances from diverse countries."
"Besides being a celebration of the heritage of these countries, it is also a platform for cultural exchange which benefits the people of Sabah," Yeo said and congratulated the Sabah Cultural Board – organisers of the festival from its inception.
