Kota Kinabalu: Sabah deserves more rural development allocations from the Federal Government as the latter owes the rural population for their support in the last election, said State Rural Development Minister Datuk Radin Malleh. He said this justifies his plea for more funds to the State Government to implement more development programmes for the people."We must be grateful for the support they had given to the government in the last election. ADVERTISEMENT That strong support shows their faith in the government to develop their areas," he said in a statement. Radin said, furthermore, the cost to develop the rural areas in the State is far higher than in the peninsular Malaysia."We need to ensure that programme implementation can be done more effectively," he said.He pointed out that other than implementing physical development, the State Government also needs to focus on human development as well through the building of schools.ADVERTISEMENT "Many schools in the rural areas are still in a dilapidated condition," he said.In relation to this, he reminded all State departments and agencies involved in rural development programmes to work more closely to ensure their success.
