Also present at the luncheon were Assistant Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Zakaria Edris, the Ministry's Permanent Secretary Datuk Ginun Yangus and State Acting Information Department Director Yunus Saprin.

Hajiji said some 300 contingents are expected to take part in the National Day Parade along Jalan Tun Fuad Stephens in the city on Aug 31, with the Head of State Tun Juhar Mahiruddin expected to be present at the event.

The National Day celebration, which will be launched in Tawau, will come to an end in Sarawak on Malaysia Day on Sept 16, while the highlight of the celebration will take place in Dataran Merdeka in Kuala Lumpur on Aug 31.
