Overhead bridge link to K'gau UTC sought

Keningau: Residents are hoping for an overhead bridge linking the Urban Transformation Centre (UTC) building to town will be constructed here. District Officer Yusop Osman said the people have proposed an overhead bridge to be constructed in front of the UTC building so that it would be easier for them to cross over to town and to escape the traffic. He said he will have a meeting with relevant authorities to discuss the matter soon.

Yusop who is Keningau Council Chairman also urged the contractors responsible for the UTC construction to complete the work on schedule by October 19. Former Native Chief Ayang Gindawai said the construction of the UTC building in Keningau has been well received by the public but the expected traffic congestion would make it harder for people to cross over to the building. Construction began on June 20 and is expected to complete by October 19 at a cost of about RM29 million on a site close to the school. It is also located close to the old general market and food stalls.
