Encourage learning, playing of Chinese chess: Yee

Kota Kinabalu: Sustainable Energy Development Authority Malaysia (Seda) Chairman cum Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) Deputy President Datuk Dr Yee Moh Chai called on parents, teachers and schools to promote and encourage the learning and playing of Chinese chess among students as it has been proven to stimulate and sharpen players' mind and intelligence.He said this in his speech during the closing and prize-giving ceremony of the 13th Sabah Chinese Primary School Chinese Chess Competition organised by the Sabah Chinese Primary School Working Committee."It's very encouraging to see students show so much enthusiasm and interest in learning and mastering the traditional Chinese chess game and if students apply this same spirit when studying, I have no doubt they will be able to excel academically as well," he added.

A total of 54 students from various Chinese primary schools from Tawau, Sandakan, Lahad Datu, Kudat, Beaufort, Papar, Keningau and Kota Kinabalu taking part in the competition from July 28-29 at SJK (C) Chung Hwa KK.This year's competition saw the team from Kota Kinabalu district emerged as the winner, while the Tawau and Lahad Datu team won the second and third placing, respectively.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.
