Beaufort: A special body will be set up to organise and promote the unique traditional 'bagandang' (drum beat) performance in Beaufort for the economic benefit of the local people.Women, Family and Community Development Deputy Minister Datuk Azizah Mohd Dun said the special body called Beaufort Cultural Arts Club would be responsible for planning, organising and promoting the art and its activities throughout the year as a tourism product.

"After eight years of organising 'bagandang' performances, our aspiration to introduce this traditional music performance in Beaufort has been achieved. The club will be joined by the various ethnic groups here to introduce this acoustic performance," she said.

Azizah was speaking to reporters after opening the Beaufort Bagandang Festival 2016 at Dataran Bagandang Beaufort (formerly known as Tapak Tamu Beaufort) on behalf of Chief Minister Seri Musa Aman, here, Saturday.

As Beaufort district was a popular destination among international tourists, she said this traditional music performance should be a highlight for foreign visitors not only for entertainment but also commercial purposes.
