OC for Sabah Railways HQ
Kota Kinabalu: SP Setia, developer of the multi-billion ringgit Aeropod mixed development project on Sabah State Railway land, here, revealed to Daily Express that the Occupancy Certificate for the new Sabah State Railway Headquarters was obtained on June 30. "It will take a few months for their office to move to the new building, before the opening," said Chan Tah Seong, Deputy General Manager of Aeropod Sdn Bhd.

SP Setia is helping to modernise the Sabah State Railway Tanjung Aru Terminal. Work at the Aeropod site is progressing well for its first phase of development with shops and Sovo or Small Office Versatile Offices. All the smaller units were sold out two years ago, leaving few of the bigger units available for sale.

"We are launching our residential units soon. We plan for a live, learn, work and play lifestyle within Aeropod where you need not leave the area unnecessarily as traffic congestion in the city is getting worryingly time consuming," he said.

"Residents at our condominiums can walk to the shopping mall connected via the upper level of the railway terminal for all their shopping needs," Chan explained. "We are using local contractors and giving opportunities to them in our scope of works." His company had been advertising in the Daily Express, including for prequalification of contractors.

"The upper level of the railway terminal has facilities for a LRT or Light Rail Transit system to be launched in future to allow for seamless connectivity. The existing railway tracks have been shifted, improved and is in operation," he added.

Aeropod will be served by an elevated flyover towards the Kota Kinabalu roadway direction, unlike 1Borneo which did not build one leading to massive congestion on the dual carriage road fast lane as cars queue up for the U-turn junction.

Chan said currently the flyover site area is occupied by the city's major sewerage project contractor digging through, but the works will commence after that.

The whole development is assured of stable power system with its own stepdown transformer station from the next door SESB station.

For the whole project the electricity capital contribution paid by S P Setia amounted to more than RM20 million, one of the contributing factors to high real estate prices in Sabah.

SP Setia held a community engagement programme with its 'Add Colours To Your Garden' event last weekend.

Aeropod Sales and Marketing Manager Ellen Tang said it was not only for their customers but open to all members of the public. There were talks and workshops on plants and gardening, well participated by seasoned green-fingers and the clueless, but enthusiastic.

The company has set a customer care standard not seen in other local or non-local developers that is not just about gifts, eating, drinking and partying on merry occasions.

Chan said the company remains true to its core values as it was under the former leadership that left after the takeover by the Pernas Group with overseas projects in Vietnam, Australia, Singapore, China and the United Kingdom.
