Tawau: The 'Kembara Jalur Gemilang' convoy organised by the Information Department will tour four districts in the east coast of Sabah, Thursday, in conjunction with the Merdeka Month and 'Fly the Jalur Gemilang' 2016 campaign. The convoy, comprising 45 participants using 20 four-wheel drive vehicles, embarked their journey as early as 8am Thursday and headed to Lahad Datu, Kunak and Semporna before ending the trip back in Tawau.

Sabah Information Technology and Resources Development Assistant Minister Datuk Hamisa Samat, who is also Tanjung Batu State Assemblywoman, flagged off the participants in a ceremony at the Urban Transformation Centre in Pasar Tanjung, here, Thursday morning.

Also present was Information Department Director-General Datuk Ibrahim Abdul Rahman. Ibrahim said the convoy was part of efforts by the department to enliven the spirit of 'Sehati Sejiwa' (One Heart, One Soul), which is also this year's National Day celebration theme, and to instil love for the country among the locals.

"We hope the local people will join together to fly the 'Jalur Gemilang' to show our love for Malaysia," he told reporters after the flagging off ceremony.

He also said the tour was part of its programme to usher in the launch of national-level Merdeka Month and 'Fly the Jalur Gemilang' campaign 2016, which would be held on Saturday.
