The Welfare Department is looking for the parents or next-of-kin of a nine-month-old boy (pic) who was left by his mother identified only as 'Anis'. A statement from the Welfare Department on Wednesday said the mother had left the boy in the hands of a caretaker at Mile 7 in Sandakan but never came back to fetch him.
"The boy was then handed to the Kota Kinabalu Welfare Office and had been under the care of the caretaker under court order since June 30," it said.
The department called on those who may have information on the parents to come forward to the Kota Kinabalu Welfare Office on the eighth floor of Menara MAA.
