27 newsmen attend workshop

Kota Kinabalu: Twenty-seven journalists from various media organisations in Sabah and Sarawak are attending a journalism workshop from Friday until Sunday, here.The three-day workshop on 'Building Blocks for Reporting a Good Story' is organised by the National Press Club (NPC) in collaboration with the United States Embassy in Kuala Lumpur.

The workshop covers, among others, the topics of Ethics in Media and Principles of Journalism, Investigative Journalism and Disaster Reporting.

The workshop is conducted by two trainers, Joan Mower, director of Development and International Media Training, US Broadcasting Board of Governors, and Inna Dubinsky, development officer of Development and International Media Training, US International Broadcasting Bureau.

Veteran journalist and retired Bernama general manager Datuk Yong Soo Heong is the moderator at the workshop.

Also present at the workshop Friday was NPC President Datuk Mokhtar Hussain, who is also Bernama Deputy Editor-in-Chief (Domestic News Service).

A similar workshop was held in Kuala Lumpur from Aug 8 to 10.
