Nachimuthu wins golf crown

Kota Kinabalu: Overnight leader R. Nachimuthu secured the Professional Golf of Malaysia (PGM) Sabah Closed Championship title, Saturday, with a disciplined performance of exciting and precision golf.The veteran player and multiple Tour winners shot a three-under 69 to move to 11-under 277 and a three-shot victory at Sabah Golf & Country Club. It was a telling display by Nachimuthu who was bogey-free in a last round that had Nicholas Fung shoot a 71 and finish second on eight-under 280.

Ben Leong and Siva Chandhran carded 68 and 71 respectively to end the RM180,000 tournament joint third on four-under 284.Kemarol Baharin (69) and Sukree Othman (74), who shot a tournament low 66 in the third round, were tied for fifth on three-under 285.Nachimuthu said he was happy to have won a tournament where the competition was tough."I am also happy that I have improved on last weekend's performance where I finished third in the I&P Match Play Championship.
