Matta fair eyes 100,000 visitors

Kuala Lumpur: The Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (Matta) Fair is optimistic of achieving the target of 100,000 visitors during its three-day fair from Sept 2.Matta Chief Executive Officer, Phua Tai Neng is confident the target can be achieved despite the current challenging economic environment globally."We are targeting RM200 million in sales turnover for this September edition which is similar to the last in March," he told a press conference at the Matta headquarters, here, Thursday.

The biannual fair this time will be held from Sept 2 to 4 at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC), here, and is open to the public from 10am to 9pm. Around 382 organisations, travel agents, and theme park and hospitality operators with will be participating in the event with 1,206 booths.Smart Online Travel Assistant (Sota) will be the official technology partner, and Legoland Malaysia Resort and Themed Attractions, Resorts & Hotels (TAR&H), the theme park partners for the fair.Matta Secretary-General Nigel Wong said the partnership with Sota, a travel portal which brings together travel agents into a single online platform, would give extensive promotions to the travel and tourism industry through the fair.

He said Legoland, the subsidiary of TAR&H, would be having four booths in conjunction with the grand launch of 'Lego Ninjago: The Ride' in November.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

"TAR&H is also bringing Sanrio Hello Kitty Town and KidZania Kuala Lumpur with two booths each," he added.

At last March's edition at PWTC, the Matta Fair secured around RM200 million in total sales with 113,121 visitor turnout. – Bernama
