Kuala Lumpur: The High Court here was Friday told that the date and time of the CCTV recording at a restaurant had not been tampered with or edited. Restoran Syed Bistro, Petaling Jaya manager Muhammad Nizam Hajanajimudeen, 29, said while testifying in the murder trial of deputy Datuk Anthony Kevin Morais, that the CCTV at the restaurant was in good condition as it was newly installed.

"I can confirm that the CCTV is in good condition; the date and time follow Malaysian time as set by the installation operator while fixing it," he said during re-examination by deputy public prosecutor Masri Mohd Daud.

Muhammad Nizam has been working at the restaurant for 10 years and is the prosecution's 30th witness in the trial which enters its 20th day today.

Earlier during examination-in-chief, Muhammad Nizam said on Sept 20, 2015, four days after Kevin Morais was found dead, he was called to come to the restaurant to assist police in getting the CCTV footage at the restaurant.

He said he was the only one with access and password to the CCTV at the restaurant.

"A staff telephoned to tell me that police wanted to watch the CCTV footage; he did not tell what the case was about.

At the time I was in Shah Alam," he said.

The witness said he then downloaded the requested recording into the thumb drive and handed it to Cheras Royal Malaysian Police, Forensic Laboratory Audio Video Investigation Unit analyst Insp Mior Samsul Abdul Rahman for transfer to a digital compact video disc.

Six men - G. Gunasekaran, 48, R.Dinishwaran, 24, A.K. Thinesh Kumar, 23, M.Vishwanath, 26, S.Nimalan, 23, and S.Ravi Chandaran, 45, stand accused of murdering Kevin Morais between 7am and 8pm on Sept 4, 2015, within Jalan Dutamas Raya Sentul and No.1 Jalan USJ1/6D, Subang Jaya.

Col Dr R. Kunaseegaran, 53, who is the first accused faces a charge of conspiring with the six men to murder Kevin Morais at the same place, date and time.

The hearing before justice Datuk Azman Abdullah has been adjourned to Sept 20. – Bernama
