Selangor: Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) has stressed that there is no need to appoint former deputy prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as the new opposition chief. Its deputy president, Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali said Pakatan Harapan has not discussed the matter, in fact it is not an urgent topic to be brought up.

He said PKR maintained its stand to continue retaining its president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail as opposition chief to lead Pakatan Harapan.

"Now, it is not the question of who is the (new) opposition chief as there is already an opposition chief namely Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.

"There is no proposal to change (the opposition chief)," he told reporters after presenting a letter of approval and form 5A for Kampung Sungai Yu, here today .

He was commenting on news reports quoting PKR vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar as saying that Muhyiddin could be appointed as opposition chief if Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Pribumi) is committed to the reformation agenda.

Muhyiddin and several former UMNO members have registered Pribumi on Aug 9 even though the setting up of the party was criticised as an Umno splinter party without any motive for its establishment. – Bernama.
