Man, Indonesian jailed for stealing properties worth RM80,000

Kota Kinabalu: A local man and an Indonesian were sentenced to 20 months' jail each for housebreaking and stealing properties worth RM80,000.Jobless Md Shawal Justin Abdullah, 34, and labourer Taufik Syamsualam, 23, admitted to breaking into Syarikat Kota Bumi Sdn Bhd in Lok Kawi at 7am on Oct 21, 2015 and stealing RM2,000, three handphones, two laptops, a CCTV box, five scanner machines and a tool box.They had committed an offence under Section 457 of the Penal Code which provides for a jail term of up to 14 years on conviction.

In another case, an Indonesian man was also jailed 20 months for having someone else's MyKad.Arul, 21, pleaded guilty to having one Hairul Nyzam Abdullah's MyKad bearing the serial number 991020-01-6465 at 1.30am on June 17 along Jalan Likas.He produced the MyKad when he was detained by police, who then found the photograph in the MyKad did not tally with Arul's face.Arul was charged under Section 25(1)(o) of the National Regulations 1990 which provides for a jail term of up to three years or fine of between RM3,000 and RM20,000 or both on conviction.

Magistrate Jessica Kakayun Ombou ordered Taufik and Arul referred to the Immigration Department after serving sentence.Meanwhile, a 51-year-old local man was handed one month's jail and fined RM500 or two weeks' jail for shoplifting.

Husin Dullah admitted to stealing two bottles of liquor worth RM113 at the Pick & Pay shop in Kg Air at 8am on July 6.He was seen through the CCTV walking into the shop with two others and stealing the liquor.In another court, an 18-year-old Filipino was sent to prison for 12 months for having a MyKad. Dino Basir pleaded guilty before Magistrate Stephanie Sherron Abbie to having one Mohd Saifudin B. He was also ordered referred to the Immigration Department after serving his sentence. Chief Inspector Lim Swee Beng and Inspector Azaman Hamat prosecuted.
