Man fined RM100 for trespassing into building to sniff glue

Kota Kinabalu: A 27-year-old jobless man who was caught sniffing glue in a building here after trespassing the premises was fined RM100 or one week's jail.Local Rezally Ramatan, who appeared before Magistrate Cindy Mc Juce Balitus, requested for a jail sentence saying he had debts and thus did not wish to be out.

He had earlier pleaded guilty to trespassing the Sabah Port Authority building here at 9am on Aug 12, an offence under Section 17 (1) of the Sabah Minor Offence Ordinance which provides for a fine of RM100.

Inspector P.Nathan, prosecuting, said Rezally sneaked into the building by damaging the glass of the main door and extracted the aluminium from the door.

Rezally was then detained by the security guard while sniffing glue on the second floor of the building and handed to police.

In another case, a Filipino labourer was sentenced to 26 months' jail for having a fake MyKad.

Mujir Amil, 28, admitted to having the fake document bearing the serial number 840302-12-5231 under the name of one Firdaus Musi at 1pm on Aug 12 in front of the Marina Court building here.

He was arrested by police after producing the fake MyKad.

The court heard that the National Registration Department had confirmed the said MyKad was fake.

Mujir was ordered referred to the Immigration Department after serving the sentence.

Meanwhile, six motorists were fined for having no driving licence.

Haryani Md Salleh, Angela Brenda Bachi, Md Nizam Abu Hasan, Md Adznil Albaset, John Isa Welan and Erwin Eric, aged between 18 and 44, pleaded guilty to committing the offence at different locations here between Aug 8, 2013 and July 22 this year.

Nizam was fined RM1,000, Erwin was fined RM700 while the rest were ordered to pay a fine of RM800 each.

Erwin was also fined another RM300 for having no insurance coverage.

In another traffic case, a man, Kinglip Robin Vonsing, 28, was fined RM1,900 or four months' jail for drink-driving along Jalan Coastal here at 4.30am, on Jan 1, 2015.
