Kota Kinabalu: Another General Operations Force (GOF) camp to accommodate one battalion will be built in Kunak next year, said Bukit Aman Internal Security and Public Order Department Director Datuk Seri Muhammad Sabtu Osman. He said with the construction of the camp, Sabah would have six battalions and the new battalion to be placed in Kunak will be known as 21st GOF battalion."The approval to build the GOF camp has been given. There are some financial constrains but we expect the construction to begin next year," he told reporters after addressing the GOF personnel in conjunction with his working visit to the Sabah GOF headquarters in Kinarut, near here, Tuesday.

Currently, Sabah has five battalions, namely 14th GOF Battalion in Tawau, 15th GOF Battalion Sandakan, 16th GOF Battalion Kota Kinabalu, 17th GOF Battalion 17 Lahad Datu and 20th GOF Battalion Beluran.Muhammad Sabtu said he would continue his working visit in Sabah today (Wednesday) with visits to control posts on several islands in the Sabah east coast waters, including in Tawau and Semporna.
