Kota Kinabalu: Malaysia Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officers in Sabah nabbed a police corporal who demanded money from a woman in exchange for her brother's release from police custody.MACC Sabah Director Datuk Shaharom Nizam Abdul Manap said the 41-year-old policeman was apprehended on Monday at around 3.20pm.The commission received a complaint from a 48-year-old housewife who said the suspect had asked RM2,000 from her.

"On Aug 20, the complainant's unemployed brother, in his early 30s, was arrested by the Sabah Wildlife Department for possessing bear paws and gallbladder of a sun bear, a protected wildlife species."At around 5pm the next day, the suspect, who pretended to be a wildlife officer, had demanded the money from the complainant in exchange for her brother's release and to avoid the brother's case from being brought to court.
"The complainant made the report to the MACC Sabah office on Aug 22," he said.On the same day at around 2.45pm in the Kota Kinabalu bus terminal, the suspect received the RM2,000 from the complainant and was immediately detained by MACC.

It was revealed that the suspect knew about the complainant's brother because he was being held at the Kepayan police lockup.The suspect was remanded for five days from Tuesday.
