Loan shark pesters dad after son dies

PETALING JAYA: A loan shark is hounding a subcontractor after his son died in a motorcycle accident recently.He claims the teenager Lim Jiun Wai, 17, had taken a loan of RM3,000 from him.The father, Lim Yau Teng, sought the assistance of MCA Public Services and Complaints Department Head Michael Chong.ADVERTISEMENT Chong, who has great experience dealing with such matters, issued a stern warning to the loan shark to stop harassing the grieving father."I spoke to the loan shark and told him that the son had died and that it was unfair of him to ask the family for the money. The family has no knowledge of the loan."We have no proof that he took the money. He said professional loan sharks usually wrote off such loans in the case of a death.Chong told the news portal his department had dealt with 401 loan shark cases so far this year, involving RM39 million.
