Kota Kinabalu: The Special Corruption Court on Wednesday extended the arrest warrant for a police Lance Corporal charged with receiving a RM200 bribe from a foreigner.Sessions Court Judge Abu Bakar Manat fixed today (Thursday) to review the warrant of arrest for Mohd Dasman Kadahan who failed to turn up in court for continuation of trial.

The warrant of arrest was first issued on July 19 this year by Abu Bakar.

Earlier, Prosecuting Officer Awang Samsul Baharam from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) informed the court that the arrest warrant could not be executed.

Awang told the court that the Investigating Officer (IO) of the case informed him that Mohd Dasman could not be contacted.

Mohd Dasman is accused of accepting the bribe from one Wahid Murin as an inducement to not arrest the latter for not having any document at 7.10am on Dec 2, 2013 at the Restoran Islamic in Kg Air, here.

The offence under Section 17(a) of the MACC Act 2009 provides for a jail term of up to 20 years and a fine of not less than five times the amount of bribe received or RM10,000, whichever is higher.

Mohd Dasman was not represented.

In another court, eight men were jailed three and four months each for entering the State illegally.

Seven of them were also handed a stroke of the cane each but not the 18-year-old.

They were arrested in the city recently for failing to produce valid documents.

After serving their jail sentence, they were ordered referred to the Immigration Department.
