Melaka: Police found an elderly couple and their 22-year-old son dead in their house in Kampung Bertam Malim here early Thursday, believed to have been murdered by a suspected drug addict who has been caught. Melaka Police chief Datuk Ramli Din said three women in the house, aged 80, 27 and 24, were injured and taken to hospital following the incident at about 6.30am.

The couple, aged 70 and 62, and their son were badly injured in the head and hands while the women sustained injuries above the nape, he told reporters at the house.

Ramli said police arrested the suspected killer, a 26-year-old man, at the Bukit Rambai Mosque here at about 11am.

Police believe that the suspect was a drug addict and were finding out the motive for the killing.

A neighbour, Norashikin Mohd Arifin, 30, said he heard someone shout for help from that house at about 6.30am.

He accompanied another neighbour to find out the cause.

"I quickly telephoned the police after learning that something bad had happened there.

"The people there have no problem with neighbours.

They had been friendly to all," he said. – Bernama
