Penampang: There was an air of confidence when the BMW 330e was unveiled to the local premium market on Saturday.Proudly introduced as the premium automaker's second locally assembled hybrid vehicle with eDrive technology in the country, the intelligent machine wowed the crowd at FM Autohaus simply by its sheer elegance and what if can offer to its owner.Saturday's event at the showroom was part of BMW Group Malaysia's celebration of the famous German automaker's proud 100 years of innovation.

The new locally assembled BMW 330e is the 12th model to join the portfolio of locally-assembled vehicles at BMW Group Malaysia's assembly facility at Kulim Hi-Tech Park. It extends the next chapter of BMW EfficientDynamics through exemplary efficiency and uncompromised power. Equipped with a state-of-the-art electric motor which works synchronously with a BMW TwinPower Turbo engine, the new model is set to deliver an unparallelled driving experience to meet an infinite spectrum of driving needs."We have high confidence that this is the best car anyone can own," said FM Autohaus Kota Kinabalu Director cum Chief Executive Officer Syed Faiz.And his confidence is well founded for the new BMW 330e communicates its hybrid nature while retaining its identity as an iconic sedan. Its hybrid capabilities are conveyed with sophisticated simplicity that is accentuated by a sense of sporty elegance.Features typical of the BMW eDrive in the new BMW 330e are immediately recognisable in both the exterior and interior of the car. The special features of the plug-in hybrid vehicle includes the charging socket panel positioned on the left front wing of the car.

It has an innovative hybrid powertrain comprising a two-litre four-cylinder combustion engine with BMW TwinPower Turbo technology and a synchronous BMW eDrive electric motor integrated in an eight-speed Stepronic transmission. Combined with a permanent rear-wheel drive system and eDrive technology, the BMW 330e is equipped to deliver a potent performance with exemplary efficiency.

Its four-cylinder petrol unit, which has won the International Engine of the Year Award on three occasions, churns a sporty power delivery. Maximum output is 252hp with a peak torque of 420Nm while combined fuel consumption is at 2.1 litres per 100km and CO2 emissions is at 49 grammes per kilometer."Not only that all our cars are fuel efficient, they create a spirit of sustainability for the future. And ours are energy efficient as well. No other cars could pass the stringent Euro standard.
