Kuala Lumpur: Malaysia's hydrocarbon custodian Petronas has completed the roof air-raising for two liquefied natural gas (LNG) tanks at the LNG Regasification Terminal 2 (RGT2), marking another milestone at the Pengerang Integrated Complex (PIC), Johor. RGT2 project director Md Shah Mahmood said the two steel dome structures were pneumatically thrust to a height of 53 metres, closing the most critical activity in the LNG tank construction towards reaching full completion as planned. He said both LNG tanks were 88 metres in diameter with roof structures reaching 11.73 metres high and weighing 1,040.1 tonnes, making them among the largest and heaviest in Southeast Asia.

"The two LNG tanks, each with 200,000 cubic metre storage capacity, will help the RGT2 provide primary gas supply to the Pengerang Cogeneration Plant (PCP) and other facilities within the PIC," he said in a statement Tuesday.

The RGT2 is developed by Pengerang LNG (Two) Sdn Bhd, a joint-venture between Petronas Gas Bhd, Dialog Group Bhd and the Johor government, to offer LNG unloading and reloading, storage, handling and regasification, with a capacity of 3.5 million tonnes per annum.
In an effort to augment the availability of gas in the country, the RGT2 is also connected to the Peninsular Gas Utilisation system via a 72-kilometre Pengerang Gas Pipeline. – Bernama
