A fun-filled evening for KKJA members, families

Kota Kinabalu: Kota Kinabalu Journalists Association (KKJA) members and their families enjoyed a fun-filled evening with the association's advisors and sponsors at the Press Night on Wednesday. In his welcoming speech, organising chairman Jimmy Goh expressed his gratitude to the Minister of Special Tasks Datuk Teo Chee Kang, who is also the legal advisor of KKJA, for his unwavering support and encouragement.

"Thanks to Datuk Teo's assistance, we have received an allocation of RM 10,000 from the State Government as activity fund for KKJA."

He also thanked Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Raymond Tan Shu Kiah for sponsoring the Press Night and the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in Kota Kinabalu headed by Chen Peijie for sponsoring three Huawei smartphones and next year's study awards for members' children who perform well at school and in extracurricular activities.

"In addition, we would like to say a big thank you to the proprietors and head of newspaper corporations, honorary advisors, advisors, legal advisors, medical advisor and sponsors for your support for the past 24 years."

As one of the founders of KKJA, Jimmy thanked members for their undivided support to the past chairmen and committee in their effort to develop the association and contribute to the betterment of the journalism industry.

"The theme of the Press Night this year, 'Solidarity in Journalism', reflects the unity and togetherness in the media fraternity," he said.

Jimmy also marked his appreciation to KKJA Chairman Yong Ted Phen, adding that he believed the association would continue to thrive under Yong's leadership.

The event also saw the presentation of appointment certificate to Mayor Datuk Yeo Boon Hai as an advisor of KKJA.
