40 attend JCI Intan talk

Kota Kinabalu: More than 40 participants attended a talk organised by the Junior Chamber International Intan (JCI Intan) at the University College Sabah Foundation (UCSF), recently.The talk themed 'Share Ideas, Open Minds, Take Action' was the final activity of the JCI Intan Peace is Possible Project.

JCI Intan President Cathy Molly Albert said the talk aimed to inspire and motivate the audience as speakers from their respective field share their stories, the challenges they face and their passion and drive to create change in the community.

"Speaking at the event were Swepa past president Datin Jeanette Tambakau who shared about the Swepa Barefoot Solar Project, CEO and Founder of the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre Wong Siew Te who talked about his life experiences and his journey in sun bear conservation, and Syed Azmi Alhabshi, known for his efforts in highlighting social causes, who gave thoughtful insights and advice on how to promote positive change within ourselves and in the community.

"More than 47 participants turned up to support the talk mainly UCSF students, Pandu Puteri, JCI Kota Kinabalu, JCI Moyog, JCI Tanjung Aru, JCI Jesselton and the public," she said.

JCI Intan Peace Is Possible Project is a month-long event launched on Sept 10 and other activities organised for the project were JCI Intan Kindness Campaign and an Open Day outreach to SK Poring Poring.

The Peace Is Possible Campaign is a global initiative by JCI to promote peace and respect within the diverse global community which is in conjunction with the International Day of Peace which falls on Sept 21.

JCI is a worldwide federation of young leaders and entrepreneurs with a quarter of a million active members in more than 100 nations worldwide. Their mission is to provide young leaders with the opportunity to create positive change.

Also present was JCI Malaysia National Executive Vice President assigned to Sabah, Jeff Lu.
