PETALING JAYA: The Sabah Government has banned entry to former DAP member "Superman" Hew Kuan Yau after having him listed as "persona non grata."The Star Online reported that Hew was stopped by Immigration officers as he arrived at the Kota Kinabalu International Airport about 1.10pm today, while on his way to Sandakan.

Hew however did not make any objection to his being barred and boarded a flight back to Penang, the report said.

Sabah DAP Secretary Junz Wong told the portal that there was no reason to bar Hew as he was only there to attend a DAP dinner event in Sandakan.

"But this is the state's decision so there is nothing we can do."

Hew's barring comes after a call by the state's Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) last week to stop Hew from entering to give a talk on Malaysia Day.

The party's youth chief Tsang Hieng Yee also asked the people of Sandakan to boycott the talk as Hew was "notorious for using vulgar words in his speeches and prone to inciting hatred in his speeches."
