Woman bodybuilder charged with shoplifting

Kota Kinabalu: A 29-year-old woman bodybuilder was charged in the Magistrate's Court on Wednesday with stealing several items from a supermarket.Heng Shu Xia, who is a tourist guide, pleaded not guilty before Magistrate Stephanie Sherron Abbie to stealing 22 items belonging to Giant Supermarket at 12.30pm on Sept 14 at Kolombong, Jalan Tuaran in Inanam.

Among the items that Heng allegedly stole were three slices of mackerel, groceries, spoons and an egg boiler.

The offence under Section 380 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to 10 years, on conviction.

Abbie set Oct 12 for case management and released Heng on a bail of RM2,000 in two local sureties.

Counsel Goldam Hamid defended Heng.

In another case, a local security guard who insulted a policeman after he was issued a summon was ordered to spend a week in prison.

Saberi Laip, 26, admitted to insulting the policeman by uttering the words, "mentang-mentanglah saya tidak bagi kamu duit, kamu samanlah saya. Kamu makanlah itu punya saman, (Just because I did not give you money you issued a summon to me … you eat it).

The offence took place at 7.41pm on Sept 14 this year by the roadside near the Kota Kinabalu Industrial Park, Sepanggar, here.

The court heard that police had stopped Saberi after he jumped queue on the road and issued him a summon.

Saberi who was not upset uttered the words to the policeman, crumpled the summon and threw it away before speeding off in his vehicle but police managed to arrest him thereafter.

During mitigation, Saberi said he would like to apologise to the police for committing the act.
