Kota Kinabalu: Sabah entrepreneurs and investors looking for investment opportunities in the peninsula now have more choices with GM Klang Wholesale City, a wholesale business complex located in Bandar Botanic, Klang, a new business hub on the western outskirts of Kuala Lumpur. Developed and managed by Gamuda GM Klang Sdn Bhd, GM Klang is in close proximity to Port Klang and KLIA, KLIA 2 and Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport. The project is also well connected with many major highways, such as North South Highway, KESAS Highway, Shapadu, NKVE, SKVE, LDP and Coastal Ring Road.

Opened for business on October 2012, GM Klang has become a go-to place in Malaysia for those sourcing wholesale products. The complex offers a wide array of products including home decorations, fashion apparel, electronic goods, IT products, textile, souvenirs and handcrafts.

"GM Klang aims to be the largest and most comprehensive one-stop international wholesale city in Southeast Asia to enable wholesale and retail players to do business," said Datuk Lim Seng Kok, the managing director of Gamuda GM Klang Sdn Bhd.

Envisioning it as a re-export centre for wholesale products to the Asean region and countries such as Pakistan, Turkey, China and India, GM Klang has the ability to strengthen Klang's position as an international trade hub.

Currently, GMK has two blocks in operation, Block A and C. Block B is under construction and expected to be open for business in November 2016. With the completion of Block B, the complex will accommodate up to 2,500 wholesale shops.

The 10-storey Block A has five levels accommodating 700 wholesale shops. Each level has been segmented by product category, such as children's apparel, educational materials, leather goods, electronics, toys, packed foods and beauty care.

Block C houses wholesalers specialised in home furnishings such as beddings, household goods, curtains and carpets, car and wedding accessories.

The 12-storey Block B, to be opened for business in November 2016, will be the fashion hub of GM Klang and is set to house a wide selection of fashion products under one roof to become the platform for wholesalers to reach customers with creativity and fashion trends.

Currently 70 per cent of Block B has been rented out.

In total, GM Klang has a gross development area potential of over 1.5 million square feet on a 14.5-acre of freehold land and is set to be completed in five phases.

GM Klang stands as a good investment against inflation with great gross yield of seven percent for five years, worry-free.

It has the potential for excellent capital appreciation due to a host of many favourable factors and one of which is its connectivity to the new LRT-3 line from Bandar Utama-Klang, to be completed by Aug 31, 2020.

Potential investors, manufacturers and traders are welcome to attend the free investment talk at the Magellan Sutera Harbour Resort, Kota Kinabalu (Meeting Room 5, Level 1) on Sept 24-25, 2016 at 11am to 12pm and 3pm to 4pm.
