Police nab snatch theft suspects in Tawau

Tawau: Police here nabbed two men, aged 21 and 22, believed responsible for at least two snatch thefts which went viral over social media. District Police Chief ACP Fadil Marsus said the first man was picked up at in the Jalan Persisiran area while the other was apprehended at Kg. Kongsi 8, Mile 4 here on Thursday.

"Their arrest led police to a premises in Kg Tinagat, Batu Payung where a Toyota Lite Ace van believed used for snatch theft activities was seized," he said.

Fadil said information on the snatch thefts which took place near the Sthamin building and the SM Holy Trinity compound started making its rounds over Facebook and WhatsApp several days ago.

This prompted police to investigate the information shared on social media which led to the arrest of the duo.

On that note, he thanked the public for sharing the information via social media.
