Keningau: Sabah Reform Alliance (APS) Vice President Paul Kadau said former Chief Minister Tan Sri Harris Salleh erred when he said Communication and Multimedia Minister Datuk Salleh Said Keruak should explain the Malaysia Agreement 1963 and 20 Point issues. He said the best person to explain these issues is actually Harris himself because Harris had always been there since the formation of Malaysia in 1963 and the documentation of the Malaysia Agreement.

"We don't agree that Salleh should explain it just because he is a Federal Minister. The people know that Harris is more knowledgeable in these issues and I believe that Harris should urge the State Government to debate the Malaysia Agreement and the 20 Points in the State Assembly, if he is concerned that the issues continues to be used by the opposition," he said.

Recently, Harris stated that unless the issues are managed properly, the opposition will continue to use them to sow discord among the people towards the Government especially among the young generation.

This, said Harris, would cause friction in the relationship between the Federal and the State.

Paul also questioned why Harris is only talking about Malaysia Agreement now and not during his tenure as Chief Minister of Sabah between 1976 and 1984.

"His belief about anti-peninsula and anti-Federal are mere assumptions because everybody knows that the people are already very angry with the Federal leaders for so many reasons," he said.

For a start, Paul said, people would like to know who was responsible for Sabah's demotion from nation to mere state in the Federal Constitution.

"Can a question like this be labelled as anti-Federal government?" he asked.
