Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Rhinos have once again failed to take advantage of playing on their home ground as they were defeated 2-3 by Pahang Kuantan FA in a Premier League match at Likas Stadium, on Friday.Ricco Nigel Milus made the first attempt for the home team as early as nine minutes into the game but his effort went wide.

Johnny Dominicus' boys picked up the momentum and tried their best to penetrate their opponent's backline.

Their effort finally paid off when Maxsius Musa scored the opening goal from a cross by Sabah's import Everton Souza Santos in the 15th minute.

But the home fans' joy was shortlived as Kuantan FA's Abdul Wafiy Abdul Ghafar scored an equaliser three minutes later.

The visiting team took a lead 2-1 in the 31st minute through Dao Bakary's brilliant goal, sweeping it from a cross by Norfahmie Hadzrin Nordin.

Sabah received an opportunity to make an equaliser when Mohd Azwan Abd Fatah was fouled by a Kuantan FA' defender in the box in the 45th minute.

Everton made no mistake in scoring the penalty shot to the screams of joy from the fans.

But luck was not on Sabah's side as Dao scored his second goal of the night, bringing the score to 3-2, two minutes into the second half. And the score remained 3-2 until the final whistle.

The line-ups for Sabah were Alto Linus, Dendy Lowa, Everton Souza Santos, Julamri Muhammad, Jenius Karib, Stuart James Wilson Wark, Ummareng Bacok, Ricco Nigel Milus, Maxsius Musa, Mohd Azwan Abd Fatah and the posts were manned by Rozaimie Rohim.

The Rhinos will host Selangor UiTM FC in their final match of the season at Likas Stadium, here, on Oct 21.
