Papar: An accusation on Facebook that he is seeing to the securing of MyKads for illegal immigrants in Papar has led to Mundang Ismail getting death threats."The post on the Facebook page is seditious and claimed that the person in the video is responsible for managing the 'Project IC' for illegal immigrants at the National Registration Department's branch here," he said, adding that video clips were also uploaded on the page.

"Suddenly I find myself accused of being involved in the 'Project IC' when I was actually there with my wife, children and three in-laws to renew our MyKad."

Mundang explained that he was at the NRD office to change their previous voting address in Sembulan to the new polling centre in Sekolah Kebangsaan Beringis after settling in a housing area in Kinarut.

Mundang, who is the Putatan chairman of Pertubuhan Kebajikan Dakwah Islamiah Malaysia (Pekida), has since lodged a police report to deny his alleged involvement in the 'Project IC' as circulated over social media.

Mundang, 57, lodged the report at the Papar police headquarters against the owner of a Facebook account, one Stephen Frankensten, who he claimed is responsible for uploading two video clips on the Facebook page on Wednesday.

He said he only knew about the post when a friend called him to inform that a video footage of him at the National Registration Department's Papar branch has gone viral over social media.

"In addition to being ridiculed, I also received threats from a handful of netizens who want to 'eliminate' me.

In fact, officers manning the counter where I was dealing with also received the same threat," he said Friday.

Mundang hoped the police and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission will investigate the matter and take action against the owner of the Facebook page.

Two video clips, which lasted for about 51 seconds, showed Mundang at one of the counters and it received various reactions from netizens after it went viral over social media.

However, one video clip was deleted by the Facebook page owner who claimed that the video was sent by an identified person and wants netizens to refer to the sender on the authenticity of the allegations.

It is understood that the officer on duty and Pekida Putatan have also lodged a police report to clear their name and the image of the Papar National Registration Department.

Meanwhile, National Registration Department (NRD) Sabah Director Dato' Ismail Ahmad on Friday said he cannot comment on the matter until he receives information from his officers.

"I cannot comment at the moment as I am in Kuala Lumpur. Let me check with my officers before giving any comment on the matter," he said.
